Ramair Performance Intake Kit – BMW E46 3 Series (JSK-146)
This intake kit from Ramair is a straightforward upgrade for BMW E46 3 Series owners looking to improve airflow into the engine. By replacing the restrictive factory air intake with a high-flow filter and heatshield assembly, it allows the engine to breathe more freely – which can contribute to improved throttle response, a more engaging induction sound, and modest performance gains on both standard and tuned vehicles.

High-Flow Foam Filter
At the heart of the kit is Ramair’s twin-layer performance foam filter, built around a stainless-steel cage for structural support and finished with a satin black, flow-calculated trumpet (the shaped inlet cone that helps air enter smoothly). This construction is designed to maximise airflow while still filtering effectively – unlike some performance filters that compromise one for the other.
CNC Laser-Cut Heatshield
One of the standout features of this kit is the two-part heatshield. Precision laser-cut and assembled with aircraft-grade rivets, it is finished in a satin black powder coat. Its purpose is to shield the filter from hot engine bay air, which can reduce performance if left unchecked. Ramair use the same manufacturing processes here as they do for their motorsport equipment.
Complete Fitting Kit and Instructions
Everything needed for installation is included – every nut, bolt, and bracket. Each fitting kit is inspected twice before packaging to make sure nothing is missing. Updated, detailed fitting instructions are also included, making this a manageable job for a competent home mechanic.
