The Wagner Tuning EVO3 Competition Intercooler Kit is a direct upgrade for the Audi RS3 8V, designed to keep charge air temperatures under control during hard driving and on track. By replacing the restrictive factory unit with a larger, more efficient core, the kit helps the 2.5 TFSI engine maintain consistent power output, even under sustained load.

This kit comes supplied with a TÜV certificate and is a true plug and play fitment, mounting to the original chassis points using the supplied crossmember. The complete unit weighs just 14.3kg.

What the Upgrade Does

An intercooler cools the compressed air coming from the turbo before it enters the engine. Cooler air is denser, which means more oxygen, more efficient combustion and more reliable power. The factory RS3 intercooler is a known bottleneck, particularly when the car is tuned or driven hard, leading to heat soak and a noticeable drop in performance.

Wagner’s engineers have increased the core size and reworked the end tank design using CFD (computer-simulated airflow analysis) to remove OEM restrictions. Internal air guides help fill the core evenly, while the tube and fin construction with internal turbulators improves heat transfer. The result is strong cooling performance with minimal pressure drop, well suited to fast road and track use.

Choosing the Right Version

Wagner offers this kit with two core options. The standard version is recommended for power outputs up to 600HP and suits the vast majority of road and lightly tuned cars. The X-version is intended for builds producing more than 600HP, where the additional cooling capacity is genuinely needed.

Important Installation Notes

Cars equipped with ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) may require recalibration of the ACC sensor following installation. This is due to the change in front-end geometry compared to the OEM intercooler.
